What is the CHED SIKAP Scholarship?

The CHED SIKAP (Scholarships for Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program) is a government-funded scholarship for teaching and non-teaching staff working in recognized Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines. It supports graduate studies (master’s or doctorate) in partner universities.

What Are the Benefits?

Full-Time Study

Master’s Degree:

  • Research allowance: ₱150,000

Doctorate Degree:

  • Tuition and fees: Full coverage
  • Monthly stipend: ₱54,000
  • Research allowance: ₱250,000

Part-Time Study

  • Student subsidy: ₱40,000 per term
  • Research allowance: ₱150,000

Doctorate Degree:

Who can Apply?

You must meet these requirements:

  • Filipino citizen
  • Full-time teaching or non-teaching employee in a CHED-recognized HEI
  • Admitted or planning to enroll in a graduate program
  • Physically and mentally fit
  • Not older than 50 years within six months of applying
  • In good academic standing (no failed or incomplete grades)
  • Cleared from previous CHED scholarships or grants
  • Endorsed by your HEI (also known as Sending HEI or SHEI)
  • Willing to sign a Return Service Agreement
  • Full-time study applicants must have approved study leave
  • Part-time applicants must have a permit to study

Who is not Eligible?

You cannot apply if:

  • You already have a government-funded scholarship
  • You have unresolved obligations from previous CHED grants
  • You have relatives working in CHEDRO or existing SIKAP scholars within the 4th degree
  • You have a current administrative or criminal case
  • You are not currently employed in an HEI
  • You already hold the same level of degree (e.g. you already have a doctorate)
  • You’re studying multiple graduate programs or beyond the allowed study period
  • You have poor academic performance or were dismissed from a prior program
  • You are both employed and studying in the same HEI (with some exceptions like PWDs or solo parents)
  • You submitted multiple applications to CHED offices

What Documents Are Required?

Here’s what you need to prepare:

  • SHEI Endorsement Form
  • Application Form (Full-Time or Part-Time)
  • Certificate of Employment with compensation
  • Approved Study Leave (for full-time) or Permit to Study (for part-time)
  • Certificate of clearance from previous CHED grants
  • NBI Clearance
  • Medical certificate of physical and mental fitness (from a licensed doctor)
  • Proof of admission from the school
  • Transcript of Records (undergraduate and postgraduate)
  • Return Service Agreement and Re-entry Action Plan
  • Copies of publications or certificates (if any)
  • Certificate of Award (if applicable)
