Common Application Mistakes to Avoid

Avoid these pitfalls that frequently cause applications to be disqualified:

  • Submitting incomplete documents – Every required item must be included. Missing even one document means your application will not be processed.
  • Uploading blurry or unclear scans – Poor quality scans are treated as missing documents. Use a proper scanner or a high-resolution phone scanning app.
  • Not compiling grades into one document – The foundation specifically requires all grade records compiled into a single file, not uploaded as separate attachments.
  • Applying through unofficial channels -Only applications submitted through the official Megaworld Foundation portal are accepted.
  • Waiting until the last minute – Technical issues, missing documents and processing delays are far more manageable if you apply weeks before the September 1 deadline.
  • Inaccurate personal or family information – Any inconsistency between your application and your supporting documents can result in disqualification.
  • Not verifying your school is a partner institution – Confirm your specific campus and degree program are eligible before applying.

Application Tips From Past Scholars

  • Start gathering documents at least four to six weeks before the deadline. Barangay certificates and payslips can take longer than expected.
  • Be honest on your application. Any misrepresentation of income, grades or residency will result in disqualification and potential permanent ineligibility.
  • Prepare for your interview. Shortlisted applicants are assessed on academic performance, character, leadership potential and genuine financial need. Know your story and be ready to articulate your goals clearly.
  • Check your email regularly after submitting. The foundation communicates with applicants by email. A missed message could cost you your place in the process.
  • Apply even if you are not in the Top 10%. The Top 10% certificate is listed as applicable only where available – it is not a mandatory requirement for all applicants.
